What's new in version 5.3 of MIMEsweeper™ for SMTP
MIMEsweeper for SMTP is undergoing constant development to keep its security, management, data loss prevention and deployment capabilities as the best-in-class.
Support for Microsoft Office 2007 and Open Office documents. Increasing the support of the new XML based file formats of both Office 2007 and Open Office to provide the ability to extract text and objects from within these file formats
Tighter Edge Server™ management integration. The Edge server is key component in the layered security, reducing administration time by automating security updates.
Support for Microsoft Exchange 2007. Using the EXCHANGEmanager interceptor the product can scan internal e-mail on both Exchange 2007 and 2003 systems. Policy, quarantine area management and reporting is all centralized and role based.
Increased file type identification including encrypted, multi-media, image and message file types. Tight control of permissible file types in an organizations mail flow is paramount to providing a safe and efficient working environment
Increased lexical scanning controls for specific content rules to be applied to document properties (metadata), headers, footers and body contents. Being able to check specific parts of a document for keyword tags is important to prevent false positives. In some cases documents need to be blocked if they are not marked correctly, for example “TOP SECRET”
Increased data loss prevention content with regular expressions and controls covering PCI, PII, HIPAA, SEC, and SOX information. There have been too many examples of data being lost accidentally, by having rigorous controls on sensitive data ensures that your company won’t be making tabloid news for the wrong reasons.
Expanded roles based administration delegation to up to 1,200 multiple e-mail domains. As companies merge or refresh e-mail domains, having the ability to define admin roles to manage specific quarantined messages. In an education environment for example delegating administration of the held messages may be important
Expanded, Personal Message Manager, language* support with the addition of Czech, Danish, Dutch, Greek, Polish, Russian, Slovenian, and Swedish language interfaces. As organizations see greater globalization and end user empowerment, allowing users to define their preferred language increases productivity
* Note: English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese are already supported by the Personal Message Manager, and MIMEsweeper for SMTP is available in English and Japanese language versions for the management of the product.
